What is the difference between Residence 7 and Residence 9?

What are flush windows?

When referring to ‘flush’ this simply means that the window sash – the opening part sits flat or ‘flush’ against the surrounding window frame /profile with nothing protruding. Flush sash windows are a traditional design that have actually been around for hundreds of years. Modern flush sash styles have grown in popularity in recent years with the advancements of replica timber window systems such as Residence.

Residence 7

Residence 7 windows, often referred to as R7, feature a flush sash design with a 75mm depth and are constructed with 7 chambers. The flush external and internal appearance creates a smooth and sleek look whilst the 7 chambers create increased acoustic performance, strength and market leading thermal performance.

The timeless and contemporary aesthetics of the R7 windows make them highly versatile, suitable for both traditional and modern home designs and increasing kerb appeal. Their equal sightlines create a symmetrical and sleek appearance, making them a viable alternative to aluminium or timber windows.

The 7 chambered profile delivers outstanding thermal performance, achieving A++ energy ratings and can reach U-Values as low as 1.23 W/m²K with a double-glazed unit and 0.84 W/m²K with a triple glazed unit. Meeting the PassivHaus standard and exceeding building regulation requirements.

Residence 7 is available in over 20 colourways and various hardware options. There is also a variety of cill options, Mechanical or Welded joints, and even a choice of beading. The Residence 7 and is also available for Single Doors and French Doors. to complete the look on your property.

Residence 9

Residence 9

Residence 9 windows, often referred to as R9, features a traditionally elegant flush exterior and a stylish decorative interior. It is a window system that has been designed to authentically replicate 19th century timber window designs. The window system has a depth of 100mm and is made up of 9 chambers.

Residence 9 is an eclectic blend of traditional aesthetics and innovative design. A large selection of period features can be incorporated such a weather bars, butt hinges, handles and stays and mechanical joints, to achieve the perfect finish for a Victorian, Edwardian, country cottage, or heritage property. Residence 9 is accepted for use in many conservation areas and listed buildings as a direct replacement for timber.

R9 windows are available in 23 colourways including several timber effect woodgrain finishes, making them almost indistinguishable from wood. These colours include Silvered Oak, Irish Oak, English Oak, and many others.

The 9 chambered profile delivers outstanding thermal performance, achieving A++ energy ratings and can reach U-Values as low as 1.22 W/m²K with a double glazed unit and 0.86 W/m²K with a triple glazed unit. Meeting the PassivHaus standard and exceeding building regulation requirements

So, to recap R7 & R9 both feature as flush sash design externally and indistinguishable from the outside. However internally there are notable differences. Residence 7 are fully flush internallly and Residence 9 are not, they have decorative internal appearance. As the name explains Residence 7 are made up of 7 chambers and Residence 9 are made up of 9. And lastly Residence 7 has a depth of 75mm and Residence 9 depth is 100mm.
